She’s earned her living as a snow shoveler, pizza pusher, aircraft loadsheet officer, waitress (back when they were called waitresses), secretary (back when they were called secretaries), jewelry designer, soap- and candle-maker, public relations specialist, business systems analyst, real estate agent, quality manager, graduate teaching assistant, and creative writing instructor.

She was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, came of age in the San Francisco Bay Area, and lives now in Austin, Texas.
